Museums are the cultural hubs of Kansas City. Whether you’re looking to learn something new about the City of Fountains or plotting a way to spend your Saturday afternoon, here are 16 museums to visit in KC.

History

Money Museum, 1 Memorial Dr. | Free

As one of twelve cities with a regional Federal Reserve, Kansas Citians can learn how the Bank processes millions of dollars in currency daily. Plus, you get to walk away with a bag of (shredded) money.

National WWI Museum and Memorial, 2 Memorial Dr. | $0-$19.50

It’s one of the most scenic spots in the city. Explore the grounds for skyline views and dip below the tower for the nation’s only dedicated WWI museum’s world-class rotating exhibits.

ICYMI — Stay tuned for its 2026 FIFA Fan Festival transformation.

Arts

Kemper Museum of Contemporary Art, 4420 Warwick Blvd. | Free

Even its special exhibitions are free to the public, meaning you can explore without your wallet — though we recommend bringing it just in case you’re drawn to the culinary artwork inside Oil in Linen.

American Jazz Museum, 1616 E. 18th St. | $0-$10

Located within the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum is a space dedicated to the sounds of Kansas City’s unique music scene. See what gave rise to the cradle of jazz and keep your toes tapping at the The Blue Room.

Kids

The Rabbit hOle, 919 E. 14th Ave., NKC | $16

The newly-opened children’s literary experience earned KC a spot on TIME’s World Greatest Places list, so we just had to see it for ourselves.

Museum at Prariefire, 5801 W. 135th St. | $0-$5

Soon to be the home of the College Baseball Hall of Fame, this south OP anchor is a natural history museum, discovery center + exhibition hall all in one.

News Notes

Civic
  • Like a bridge over troubled water. Major infrastructure changes are coming to KCMO thanks to a $40 million federal grant. That money — along with the city’s $10 million match — will replace nine major bridges, including four over Brush Creek. Construction timelines are TBA.
Sports
  • Did you catch last night’s overtime win? We call that makin’ moves, money moves. The Chiefs have the fourth-highest amount of salaries in the NFL, with four players — Patrick Mahomes, Creed Humphrey, Chris Jones, and Harrison Butker — earning the top salary for their positions. (KCBJ)
Trending
  • SNL star Heidi Gardner gave Architectural Digest a tour of her “midcentury, disco fantasy retreat” in Leawood, designed in-part with KC–based design-build firm Cicada Company. Do we think she was inspired by our neighborhood architecture series? No... but she did like our Instagram post once.
Coming Soon
  • The Soul of Santa Winter Wonderland is bringing holiday magic to KC’s east side starting Friday, Nov. 15. The inaugural experience will feature an outdoor ice skating rink in front of Vine Street Brewing, running through Sunday, Jan. 5. Tickets start at $10, with all proceeds benefiting the local nonprofit. (Startland News)
Award
  • It’s like the Oscars, but for local biz. The Pitch’s Best of KC ’24 is finally here, featuring any category your heart desires, from the Best Business that Could Only Exist in KC (Made in KC) to the Best Public Restroom (QuikTrip). One problem: there’s no spot for best free daily newsletter.
Wellness
  • Better sleep in as little as two weeks + workout breakthroughs in eight to twelve weeks — get the benefits Magnesium Breakthrough, with seven powerful forms of magnesium.*

The Wrap

I have a secret. Growing up, my family was way more into baseball than any other sport — meaning I never actually watched a full Chiefs game until last season, let alone attend one IRL. That all changed last night thanks to a few gifted Kingdom Club tickets.
