Ranked
Report cards are in — Niche’s awarded Blue Valley North High School the No. 1 spot over all metro schools. It scored A’s across the board for subjects such as teachers, academics, college prep, and diversity. What a model student.
Real Estate
Coming to Westside next summer: Belleview Townhomes. The project, which recently broke ground at the corner of West 29th Street and Belleview Avenue, intends to provide home ownership opportunities for low-income families. (FOX4)
Finance
Credit cards that can help you get out of debt sound as wacky as pumpkin spice deodorant (yes, it’s real). But the concept is legit: Find a card with “0% intro APR” for balance transfers. Here are hands down some of the best offering no interest until 2026.*
Edu
Interested in working with a local tutor — or taking lessons virtually? Wyzant’s vetted instructors can help with 300+ topics, from core subjects to musical skills. The best part? It’s pay-as-you-go and starts as low as $10/session. (Psst...special offer this way.)*

🏗️ Boulevard of big dreams
Southwest Boulevard’s $4 million makeover: Here’s what’s changing
Pedestrian safety is the priority. | Rendering by City of Kansas City, Missouri
Less lanes, more crosswalks, and — drum roll, please — more parking.
Those are some of the changes coming to the Southwest Boulevard area — from Broadway Boulevard to 31st Street — with the goal of making it safer for drivers + pedestrians.
Phase one will utilize ~$4 million to update the stretch between Broadway Boulevard and 25th Street by:
Flipping four-lane streets into one lane each direction with a center turning lane
Adding crosswalks and improving sidewalks
Updating traffic signals
“Adding lighting and anti-bird netting beneath the I-35 bridge
Adding signage + natural landscaping
The city aims to complete this by summer 2026, just in time for the World Cup.
Want to learn more about the proposal and voice your opinion? Attend the next community outreach meeting, hosted by the Westside Neighborhood Association, on Thursday, Oct. 17 at 6 p.m. at the Guadalupe Centers (1015 Avenida Cesar Chavez, KCMO).
Choose your must-have Halloween item, both on sale for Prime Big Deal Days: these party-ready pumpkin + ghost lidded glass cups (now 20% off), or this no-effort skeleton onesie costume (now 38% off).
