For the first time in 16 years, the US is sending a men’s soccer team to the Summer Olympics — and they’re training right here in KCK.
Our nation qualified at the 2022 Concacaf U-20 Championship after defeating Honduras 3-0, and now they’re kicking it into high gear. As a part of their final prep, the team will face off against Japan on Tuesday, June 11, 7 p.m., at Children’s Mercy Park. Tickets are $28-$225.
Can’t make it in person? That’s a yellow card. But, don’t worry, you’re still in the game. The match will be streamed on platforms TBA. Watch US Soccer’s website for updates.

Four choices laid before you, but the fave was clear. | Graphic by KCtoday
12.9% said you were interested in “Garfield’s Kansas City roots”
15% chose “Happy Meals: A KC Invention”
15% selected “Big Cats find fur-ever homes at Cedar Cove”
57.1% of you voted for “The History of the Plaza’s Fountains”
Which means Editor Charm will dive into the Plaza’s fountains next. Better grab your snorkles.
