• Hello, college basketball. The University of Kansas and Wichita State University men’s basketball teams will play at T-Mobile Center on Saturday, Dec. 30, in their first regular season game against each other in 31 years.

• The Kansas City Current welcomed former MLS and USMNT midfielder Lee Nguyen to the technical staff as an assistant coach. Lee played in 250+ MLS matches, leading the New England Revolution to the 2014 MLS Cup Final.

• The National WWI Museum and Memorial’s tenth annual Taps at the Tower is Sunday, June 18-Saturday, June 24. Kansas Citians are invited daily to see a moving ceremony featuring an iconic rendition of Taps at sunset (approximately 8:45 p.m.).

• On a mission for tacos. Leawood’s Park Place officially welcomed Mission Taco Joint, a west coast-style taco restaurant. The 4,554-sqft location features a main dining room + bar area, as well as a side patio adjacent to the shopping center’s common area.

• Gumbo Fest is back. The Prospect KC’s second annual Gumbo Fest will return to 18th and Vine Historic Jazz District on Sunday, Oct. 15. The event benefits The Prospect KC and tickets start at $10.
