Do you remember Schlitterbahn Water Park? While the splash city is no longer, a new getaway is coming to Kansas City. Enter: Vacation Village.

Vacation Village is an $838 million development project in Kansas City, Kansas that will include attractions like Margaritaville Resort, an indoor athletic training facility, Big Shots Golf, and an interactive museum. The project is at the hands of Homefield KC.

Let’s dive into the progress of this staycation situation with details from Homefield project lead Richard Napper.

Athletic training facilities

The steel structure of the $60 million indoor multi-sport facility is officially complete. Work is still underway on the $40 million youth baseball complex. Homefield officials said the complex will now be operated by Prep Baseball Report and include an indoor athletic facility and eight youth baseball fields.

Margaritaville Resort

Wastin’ away again in KC. This $145 million project is now under construction. The resort will include a 230-room hotel, a “LandShark” themed restaurant, and indoor + outdoor water sport features. We’re most excited to check out the ninja ropes course overlooking the indoor pool.

Big Shots Golf

This 39,000-sqft, golf-themed food and entertainment attraction is tallying up to cost $20 million. It will include 60 tee boxes for virtual games and competitions. Think: Topgolf.

Atlas 9

This $26.7 million interactive art museum contains 30,000 sqft of space and a movie theater. The museum will be built alongside local experience design firm Dimensional Innovations in resemblance of the Meow Wolf art installations.

Entertainment arena

Another newly announced feature is a $53 million, 55,000-sqft multi-sport and live music arena. Homefield is working to finalize an agreement with concert promoter Live Nation, which would hold events ~110 nights of the year, leaving the rest for sporting events.

It’s very common for travel to wreak havoc on our digestive system, due to a number of factors from eating new foods to time changes (yes, “gut-lag” is a thing). | Photo by Pendulum
We’ve all been there: a sunny beach, a gorgeous new city, a cute little cabin — and then you feel the dreaded rumble. Your stomach doesn’t feel good, and you have to get to a bathroom, pronto.

Don’t let that happen to you. Before your next summer trip, brush up on five tips to keep your gut happy on the go:

1. Stay hydrated. Stick to (safe) tap or bottled water.
