The Country Club Plaza is turning 100 — but it doesn’t look a day over 30.
The shopping district is celebrating in style with a Centennial Celebration that is nearly a year in the making. This follows special events like the Plaza’s Centennial Grant Program, which gifted a total of $100,000 to four local nonprofit organizations last year.
We want to see Kansas City show out for the biggest Plaza party of the century. Here are the details.
When: Saturday, June 3 from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
Where: Plaza Central, 4706 Central St., KCMO
Parking: Free public parking is available at several nearby garages, including:
Valencia Garage on the north side of 47th Street and Pennsylvania Avenue
Balcony Garage on Wornall Road near 46th Street
Seville Garage, entrance on 47th Street between Jefferson Street and Summit Street
Time Building Garage north of True Food Kitchen on Pennsylvania Avenue
Eat and drink: Indulge in bites and beverages by The Classic Cup Café, including Plaza Punch and pulled pork sandwiches. Plus, find Topsy’s for free popcorn in a color-changing commemorative cup.

What’s in and what’s out this June in Kansas City

Don’t get us wrong, we love everything about Kansas City — some things we just love a little bit less than others.
With June in full swing, it’s a good time to look at what we think is in and what we’re considering out in the 816 this month.
The Country Club Plaza is one of the first places I visited in Kansas City as a teenager from St. Louis. I was in awe of the architecture, walkability, and of course — the shopping.
Every time I go back to the Plaza, I am reminded of one of the first times I fell in love with KC. Now, I get to fall in love with this city every single day. Cheers to 100 years.
