News Notes
Weather
  • 76° | Scattered thunderstorms | 71% chance of rain
Plan Ahead
  • Heading to Union Station in April? Keep your eye out for closures as the site begins preparation for the NFL Draft. The South Plaza parking area will be closed from Sunday, April 2 through early May. All Union Station parking during that time will be in the West Yards Garage.
Biz
Open
  • Reopening, actually. Percheron, a rooftop bar at Crossroads Hotel, is opening for the season on Friday, April 14. New additions to the cocktail menu include the Party Pressure and Strawberry Negroni (Editor Bella is drooling).
  • Abelardo’s Mexican Fresh, a quick-service Nebraska-based chain, opened a new location in Overland Park. The eatery — at 12224 W. 135th St. — takes over the spot once home to Taco Viá. The menu features an all-day breakfast menu, including burritos and plates. (Blue Valley Post)
Seasonal
  • No April Fools jokes here. Deanna Rose Children’s Farmstead is back for the season starting Saturday, April 1. Visit 250+ animals and birds, learn about flowers and vegetables, or simply stroll through the main street. Admission is $5.
Job
  • Fly to your next career opportunity. Kansas City International Airport is hiring for various roles, including a building maintenance worker, maintenance worker, and traffic control officer. Apply here.
Finance
  • Refinance rates are skyrocketing. But home equity rates remain relatively low — which means that now is a great time to borrow against your home. Calculate your payment.*
Drink
  • An electric wine opener is one of those inexpensive kitchen gadgets that you don’t know how you lived without once you get one. We especially love this one for its sleek design and ergonomic grip. To upgrade your wine even further, this set includes an automatic wine aerator and reusable vacuum stopper.
