If you’re like us (we think you are since we get along so well), you’ve always wanted to visit the places on the Monopoly game board. Well, now you probably have.
Kansas City Edition Monopoly is now for sale on shelves and online — featuring major KC landmarks.
Hasbro has been making local versions for ~20 years, including locations like Corpus Christi, Napa Valley, and Palm Springs. This is the first one based in Missouri.
Representatives of Top Trumps (licensing partner with Hasbro) presented the game on Wed., Oct 26 — unveiling the board squares with the largest local board ever created.
“We have truly fallen in love with Kansas City,” Top Trumps rep Brooke Gorman said. “Instantly when we came here, all the locals were easily some of the nicest people we’ve ever met.”
People from featured businesses and districts were in attendance, including Blue the Dog. KCMOMayor Quinton Lucas was also invited to speak.
“I could not be any more excited [...] more than anything, being able to share the Kansas City spirit — one of success, of ingenuity, perseverance, and this exciting place in the middle of America that really is on an incredible trajectory to become one of the world’s greatest cities,” he said.
If we could design a game board, it would look like this.

Parade of Hearts 2.0
Parade of Hearts to return in Kansas City
Can you feel the love? We sure can. | Photo by KCtoday
The Parade of Hearts — you know them, you love them. Luckily, there’s more to come.
The Parade of Hearts Board of Directors announced a two-year plan, including a limited edition of hearts on display in 2023, and a return to 100+ hearts on display in 2024.
Where it all began
In 2021, the organization revealed plans for an ambitious community engagement initiative. The project came to life in 2022 in the form of 155 unique artist-created hearts placed throughout the greater metropolitan area. The hearts were an immediate and overwhelming success, raising $2.56 million.
The future
Revenue from 2023 + 2024 will benefit local artists via stipend and marketing support, as well as KU Health and Children’s Miracle Network. Public charities will be encouraged to apply for consideration as the third beneficiary — applications will be available in November.
Artists are encouraged to submit designs for consideration in the 2023 Parade of Hearts here.
THE WRAP
Today’s edition was written by Bella.
Editor’s pick: Monopoly was one of my favorite games growing up — I loved getting to bargain (or argue) with my friends. I can’t wait to put my editor knowledge to the test and play this KC version. Next up: a KC themed edition of The Game of Life? In my dreams.
