Last year, y’all helped us name the best barbecue: Joe’s. This year, we asked you to shareyour favorite brewery in KC. Now — thanks to you + the help of a random generator — we have the official lineup for our bracket.
Hundreds of you sounded off, and this is the result. | Graphic by KCtoday
Beginning today, we will host several voting rounds within our newsletters and social channels to determine City’s best brewery. Who moves on is up to you. Vote for your favorites, and the brewery with more votes will move on. Simple as that. We’ll go until we have a champion, which will be announced in our Friday, March 31 newsletter. You will be able to vote once per round.
How to participate
Vote for the brewery you’d like to see advance to round two using this poll. You can vote for all four spots or as few as one. Once we count all the votes, we’ll share an updated bracket and new poll next Tuesday, March 21.

Our favorite nickname for KC? Home. | Photo by @punk_off
If you didn’t know, KC has a lot of nicknames — Heart of America, City of Fountains, Paris of the Plains. Now, we’re adding the origins of another to our extensive list.
Crown Town
Crown iconography is everywhere in Kansas City, and not just from the two recent Super Bowl wins. KC-based Hallmarkadded the crown to its logo in 1954. It was the Hall family that created Crown Center, breaking ground in 1968.
The Royals were founded as an expansion franchise a year later (1969), and Kauffman Stadium is adorned by the biggest crown in KC (built in 2008). Oh, and you know those crowns at Zona Rosa? Their origins date back to 1962.
Or, maybe Crown Town is simply the best name for a winning city — where KC teams have played in the most sports finals (NFL, MLB, MLS, and NWSL) in the last decade. Doesn’t it just make you want to wear this T-shirt or this crew neck?
Editor’s pick: A big round of applause to all the breweries who received votes for our bracket — and to our readers for all your submissions. We got hundreds of recommendations, so here are all the other great spots that got a shoutout (in alphabetical order):
