Our ever-growing community has added 20 new developments since we last checked out what’s coming soon. Ready to try out omakase-style sushi or the new shuffleboard bar in the West Bottoms? Keep your eyes peeled for these emerging businesses in the KC area.

Every time we look around, it seems like something new is popping up in Kansas City. Whether you’re looking for your next go-to brunch destination or a new public park to stretch your legs, we’re rounding up a few things coming soon to the City of Fountains this quarter.

Betty Rae’s, 5740 Antioch Rd., Merriam, KS | May 2024 | The new location will include a test kitchen to experiment with more off-the-wall flavors.

Varsity Club + Disco Burger, 317 Delaware St., KCMO | Spring 2024 | This laid-back cocktail lounge will serve as a permanent location for the popular smash burger pop-up.

Sushi Kodawari, 2100 Central St., KCMO | Spring 2024 | Kansas City’s first omakase-style sushi restaurant will feature just eight seats, and no set menu.

Carne Diem, 4179 N. Mulbery Dr., KCMO | Spring 2024 | This butcher and seafood counter will offer gourmet grab-and-go meal kits, deli selections, and cooking workshops.

Night Goat, 2139 Summit St., KCMO | Summer 2024 | Located in the basement of Fox & Pearl, this weekly barbecue pop-up will start serving five nights a week.

Jars by Fabio Viviani, 4937 W. 119th St., Overland Park, KS | Summer 2024 | The two-time “Top Chef” contestant will open the first metro location for his single-serving jar dessert concept.

Buck O’Neil Bridge, US Highway 169 | December 2024 | We’re in the home stretch with this long-running construction project, with sections of the new bridge opened to traffic in January of this year.

Johnson County Library - Merriam County Plaza, 6120 Slater St., Merriam, KS | Wednesday, March 20 | Next week’s ribbon cutting will bring the area an all-new library with a native plant green roof, covered patio, and dedicated early literacy space.

Rock Island Bridge | Summer 2024 | The much-anticipated entertainment district aims to host dining, bars, coffee shops, and trailhead services 60 ft above the Kansas River.

Recreation
Activate Kansas City, 6900 W. 119th St., Overland Park, KS | Late spring or early summer 2024 | Get ready to try different “active gaming experience” rooms — think laser grids + the floor is lava.

Larks, 1527 W. Ninth St., KCMO | Spring 2024 | This West Bottoms shuffleboard lounge will feature a restaurant, cocktail bar, and arcade.

Lumi Neon Museum, Pennway Point | TBD | This nonprofit will display KC history through its collection of vintage neon signs.

Muni, 316 Delaware St., KCMO | March 2024 | Co-owned by the James Beard-nominated chef of Waldo Thai, this Mexican-Thai fusion spot is located just off the streetcar line.

Green Dirt on Oak, 1601 Oak St., KCMO | March 2024 | Enjoy fine dining with award-winning cheese on a rooftop deck in the East Crossroads.

Vita’s Place, 5514 Oak St., KCMO | Curated vintages, bespoke cocktails, and small bites make this comfy Brookside wine bar a perfect evening pit stop.

Kura Sushi, 200 W. 47th St., KCMO | Pay by the plate and sample dozens of dishes from Kura’s revolving sushi selection.

Whole Harvest Kitchen, 4853 W. 117th St., Leawood, KS | The local meal delivery service opened its own 100% plant-based kitchen to help make a healthier, happier metro.

Tea-Biotics Kombucha Lounge, 640 E. 18th St., KCMO | Try 24 flavors of kombucha at this alcohol-free Brewer’s Alley taproom.

CPKC Stadium, 1460 E. Front St., KCMO | OK, so the world’s first dedicated women’s soccer stadium isn’t open quite yet — it opens Saturday, March 16.

KC Wheel, 2485 Jefferson St., KCMO | You’ve seen the newest addition to the skyline, but have you seen the view from the top?
